Other factors such as sun exposure, smoking, and genetics further contribute to this droopy appearance. Sun damage, in particular, breaks down collagen and elastin fibers, which worsens the appearance of sagging skin and wrinkles. Our eyelid lift surgery can restore a more youthful appearance.
At Reflejo Med Spa we pride ourselves in ensuring a relaxed environment for an enhanced experience of comfort and safety. This includes the use of local anesthesia along with Valium, an oral sedative given preoperatively to ease any anxieties. You’ll also have the option of using Pro-Nox, a nitrous oxide inhalation that provides further relaxation during the treatment.
Valium is a medication that promotes feelings of calmness and reduces muscle tension. Whereas, Pro-Nox, a gentle blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen offers short-acting relaxation and pain relief. Both medications ensure a comfortable and stress-free environment for your procedure which can take up to an hour. Once you’re comfortable, Dr. Van Buren will make incisions following the natural contours of your eyelids.
After completing the necessary adjustments, the incisions are closed with fine sutures.
Ideal candidates for the procedure typically have signs of aging around the eyes, including sagging eyelids, puffiness, or excess skin. We prioritize individuals who don’t have health conditions that may adversely affect their health, safety, and recovery.

You can expect temporary side effects, such as swelling, bruising, discomfort, and dry eye during recovery. Potential risks include an adverse reaction to anesthesia, infection, and bleeding. Comprehensive pre-operative consultations and post-operative follow-ups are scheduled to address any concerns and support a smooth recovery process.
You must follow Dr. Van Buren’s pre-operative instructions to ensure a smooth surgical experience and desired results. This may include giving up certain lifestyle activities such as smoking and stopping certain medications like blood thinners.
Following the procedure, you’ll be in fantastic care but will require a driver to take you home safely. This allows you to fully recover from the medication and focus on the exciting results to come. Our Phoenix team will provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth and successful blepharoplasty. Recovery takes up to 14 days and complete healing is expected after a few months.
